1998 - The #16 Gamecocks dominated LSU 70-53 for Carolina's 17th straight SEC home win. Carolina jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first half and still led 28-20 at the break. The Tigers would score the first three points of the second half but then USC ran off 14 points in a row, starting with a three-pointer by Antonio Grant. The lead would grow as large as 22 in the second half as the Gamecocks outrebounded LSU 45-29. It would be the Carolina bench that carried the day to a great deal, as the reserves outscored the starters 38-32 behind 17 points from forward LeRon Williams. He and fellow reserve Herbert Lee Davis (10 points) were the only Gamecocks in double figures. USC improved its record to 10-2 on the season with the win.
