2020 - USC's women's basketball team rose to #1 in the AP rankings after defeating Vanderbilt 93-57 and enjoying upsets to the teams ranked ahead of them. Zia Cooke led the way for Carolina with 17 points but Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, Tyasha Harris, Aliyah Boston and Laeticia Amihere all ended up in double figures as well with Boston (10 pts, 8 rebounds) coming up just short of another double-double.
1990 - South Carolina defeated Cincinnati 59-53 in a game that was more like a brawl that a well executed basketball game. There were 53 fouls called in the game and in the first half Carolina shot 26 percent from the field while the Bearcats shot 28. Cincinnati even dropped to 27 percent in the second half and finished at just 46 percent on free throws. The Gamecocks led 22-20 at the half but managed to shoot 63 percent in the second half to get the win. Carolina opened the final half with an 8-1 run and that was enough to hold a steady lead the rest of the way. Joe Rhett led the way with 15 points and 13 rebounds, the only USC player in double figures. The win left USC in a tie for first place in the Metro Conference and with a 6-4 record.
