1931 - Right fielder Bill Harley sets a Gamecock record with six hits in an 18-6 blowout of Erskine. Harley went six for six on the day with five singles and a double. Carolina also got three hits from SS Hap Edens and 3B Buddy Laval. Edens, Laval and Harley, the 3-4-5 hitters, combined to go 12-16 with a pair of doubles. Bill Ouzts went the distance on the mound for USC, striking out three. The win improved Carolina's record to 4-0 on the year and they had outscored opponents 48-11 in that stretch.
