1985 - Rob Rinehart tied a USC record by belting three home runs in an 11-6 win over Clemson. Rinehart's homers, which were all solo shots, came in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings, and at the time of this game only Chris Boyle and Dave Hollins had accomplished that feat in Gamecock history. Carolina jumped ahead early in this one, as Keith Killian's first inning grand slam gave starting pitcher Brian Currie plenty of cushion. The Tigers would tie the game at 4-4 before the USC offense, led by Rinehart, would make it a runaway. USC reliever Glenn Jenkins picked up the win, while Bo Taylor earned his first save by pitching a scoreless ninth. The win gave Carolina the series victory over Clemson for the '85 season
